Community Responsibility
Giving back to the communities that support us is a fundamental value ... and further defines our culture. Ascent principals have a strong commitment to our communities, from sitting on the boards of the Sacramento Tree Foundation and Solar Cookers International to coaching youth sports teams or mentoring young professionals. Employees are offered paid time to use for community service. We love joining community events and making contributions to charitable organizations.
Our professional fields are also our communities. We seek to give back by teaching courses at the University of California Extension, the Association of Environmental Professionals, Continuing Legal Education, the American Planning Association, and elsewhere. Our people devote their time to professional organization boards and committees, policy forums, legislative review, and mentor programs, wherever we can help support our professional fields or inform the consulting industry.
Environmentally Sensitive Operations
Walking your talk with environmentally sensitive operations can, truthfully, be a challenge when running a business. Just as we do in our client work, we carefully consider environmental impact in our operational decisions. We pursue operating strategies that help reduce our carbon emissions, waste, and water and resource consumption. Our downtown location provides transit service and bicycle commuting opportunities for many staff. As a member of the Sacramento Area Sustainable Business Program, we are continually seeking to improve. As we grow, we will maintain our commitment to sustainable operations as a fundamental principle of Ascent.
