River Park is a 375-acre planned community in the Southport Plan area of West Sacramento. The site borders the new setback levee and the Sacramento River to the south and east, the Clarksburg Branch Line Pedestrian and Bike Trail to the west, and existing rural residences to the north.
The master plan creates a network of interconnected parks and open spaces that preserve the site’s natural resources such as the mature oak grove, promotes best practices in stormwater management through a central open drainage channel that is amenitized and celebrated, and offers a wide range of housing choices within a short driving distance from downtown Sacramento. Proposed trails within the site will connect the parks and open space in the community to a regional trail system, using the levee and the city’s rails-to-trails corridor. The majority of the open space areas will be planted with native plants, many of which already exist at the site.
